The Rotiboy bakery was founded by Hiro Tan in 1998 in Bukit Mertajam, a small town in Penang, Malaysia, with the passion and purpose to produce safe, good quality bakery products to serve the needs of the local community.
Not long after that, Rotiboy is blessed with an exceptional product, a bun, that was later be described by some as “the one bun that rules them all”.
Rotiboy was relocated to SS15 Subang Jaya in 2001. In 2002, a turning point in Rotiboy history happened in Wisma Central Kuala Lumpur and we never looked back since.
We continue to grow regionally and globally. To date, Rotiboy is an International Food & Beverage Brand engaged in manufacturing, retailing & franchising. We have more than 200 Outlets across 6 International Markets, supported by 3 world class manufacturing facilities in Indonesia and Malaysia. Headquartered in Malaysia, our Central Production Facility is Halal, ISO 22000, HACCP & GMP certified.
If Hiro Tan Is the Rotiboy Founder, then Rotiboy is the Founder of the Bun Revolution. The runaway success of Rotiboy inevitably sparked many copycats and since then, the bun is an industry on its own within the bakery and confectionery industry.
The “Rotiboy” bun as it came to be known, is baked and sold fresh from the oven, a bread that is crispy crunchy on the outside but moist and buttery on the inside giving rise to exceptional experiences to the consumers who expresses the experience as “ bundelicious “, “tasted heaven”, “buns to die for” and “one is never enough”, just to describe a few.
Our humble “Bun Revolution” started with a daily sales exceeds RM3,000, and to date we have baked and sold more than 600 million buns worldwide and still baking.
While we do not achieve complete success across all markets, nonetheless, since 1998, we have embarked on a journey of significant growth, extraordinary milestones fully grounded on being passion driven, forward looking, and embracing the values of integrity in all we do.
In essence, Rotiboy’s culture is all about people, relationships; serving and contributing to society and community, with the aspiration to touch and make a positive difference to the lives of the people of this world.
