PG tips has long been the UK’s favourite tea brand*.
In 1898, founder Arthur Brooke opened his first shop in Manchester, putting customers first with an array of high quality, tasty teas. PG tips was born a little later in 1930 as part of the Brooke Bond Family under its original name: ‘Pre-Gest-Tea’. The name was later abbreviated, and Mr Brooke added ‘tips’ to highlight that only the top two leaves and bud of each plant are used.
PG tips has been a pioneer in the tea category: inventing the teabag in 1960 and introducing the famous pyramid® bag in 1990. The unique shape acts like a miniature teapot, giving the leaves more room to move.
Today, PG tips believe that cuppas taste better together so recently announced a pledge to help tackle the loneliness crisis in the UK. PG tips cares about people and the planet so in 2018 also announced the transition to biodegradable plant-based teabags!
