Farm Fresh Berhad is Malaysia’s largest homegrown dairy company. Through its subsidiaries, the Group operates on a “grass-to-glass” model that engages in the business activities of farming, manufacturing and distributing various dairy products and plant-based products.
Since founded in 2009, Farm Fresh has steadily expanded across the entire grass-to-glass value chain, becoming one of Malaysia’s most iconic homegrown brands. From a humble beginning 15 years ago, when the visionary founder, Loi Tuan Ee, imported 60 Holstein Jersey cows from Australia and set up a farm in Mawai, Johor with an ambitious mission – to offer pure dairy products to Malaysians, free from preservatives and artificial additives, delivered fresh to supermarket shelves. This commitment to freshness and quality quickly became their unique selling point, setting them apart from imported dairy companies that relied on powdered or reconstituted milk. With enthusiastic customer response and support from Khazanah Nasional Berhad, Malaysia’s sovereign wealth fund, Farm Fresh was propelled onto a transformative path, expanding their production capacity and diversifying their product range.
Farm Fresh currently operates its dairy farms in both Malaysia as well as Australia, across more than 5 thousand acres of land, with a total herd size of more than 11 thousand dairy cows and bulls. The company has introduced over 200 products across various brands including Farm Fresh, Master Barista, Henry Jones, Yarra Farm, Yarra by Farm Fresh and Nubian Goat’s Milk, Jom Cha by Farm Fresh, St David Dairy (Australia) and their most recent acquisitions, Inside Scoop and Sin Wah Ice Cream.
Farm Fresh’s robust market presence extends across various product segments, from ready to-drink (RTD) chilled and ambient products to yoghurts, plant-based alternatives, and ice cream. Growth has been driven by investments in research and development (R&D), enabling them to introduce innovative products such as dates milk, lactose-free milk and almond milk, as well as Farm Fresh Grow for children, to meet the evolving needs of consumers. Farm Fresh has introduced various new products, including a powder variant of Farm Fresh Grow, Australian organic milk, consumer packaged goods (CPG) ice cream, chocolate malt beverage and soon to-be launched, cultured milk, butter and adults milk.
Having ascended to the position of Malaysia’s largest integrated producer of dairy products, Farm Fresh is poised to further expand their presence within the Asia Pacific region. The Group primarily exports to Singapore, Brunei and the Philippines within Southeast Asia. The Group’s factory in Victoria, Australia also exports milk to the Middle East. The company has also recently commenced operations at its new factory in the Philippines, producing pasteurized milk for the Metro Manila region.
Farm Fresh believes in doing well by doing good and this starts with providing good nutrition to the future generation. The Group has stewarded the School Milk Program since 2011 and since 2022, they have distributed over 65 million packs of school milk to approximately 3,400 schools under the Ministry of Education Malaysia, supported by their extensive home dealer network consisting of more than 2,000 microentrepreneurs. Aside from that, Farm Fresh has established community centres as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility called Multidimensional Human Capital Development Programme which aims to improve education, nutrition and living standards of the poor.
Farm Fresh’s four completed farms in Malaysia are the first in Asia to receive the Certified Humane® Raised and Handled® certification, which means that the dairy products come from farms that meet the precise, objective standards for the humane treatment of farm animals. Additionally, Farm Fresh has been awarded the ASEAN Inclusive Business Award in 2020 for its contribution to developing micro-entrepreneurs in Malaysia via its Home Dealer network, ACES Award for Asia’s Best Performing Companies in 2021 and recognised as the top dairy brand in Malaysia, by winning the Platinum award by the Putra Brand Awards, in the Dairy – Beverage category for three consecutive years, which is testament to the brand love and recognition by Malaysians of Farm Fresh’s efforts to promote pure and nutritious dairy products for its consumers.
